This. Is. Africa.

T.I.A. stands for "This Is Africa". This summer I have the opportunity to go to Kenya with my church for a two week trip. While I'm there I'll have the chance to dive head first into the culture and love on people there. I know we're going there to bless people but I have no doubt that I'll be the one exponentially blessed by the trip.

My group leader suggested that I start keeping a journal now to track my thoughts, prayers, fears, etc... and while I'm keeping a personal journal of my own, I wanted to write some here, too. This way, you can be part of my journey with me!!! I'll have VERY limited internet access while I'm there but I will try to write at least one post while I'm in Kenya so you can follow along and follow me on my trip of a lifetime.

My heart is already stirring with anticipation. Actually, my heart has been stirring for Africa for YEARS now. I don't know how and I don't know why but God has made my heart beat for Africa for as long as I can remember. I've always felt a pull to be there and now I get to go!!!

A few months ago I completed my application and was interviewed by a good friend. Then came the waiting part. I waited and compulsively checked my email to see if I would be accepted onto the team. I got the email on January 23rd "Congratulations! You've been accepted onto the Kenya 2014 team". I immediately burst into tears (as I am wont to do often). YES! This is a dream come true. I paid my deposit and went to the first team meeting.

As there are 80+ of us going on this trip, the leaders felt it would be best to split us up into smaller teams. But we'll still all be working together in Kenya. This is to make training and Bible studies more intimate and make it easy to keep up with people. I found out that Kaci would be my group leader and I couldn't be happier. This is her third trip to Kenya and she has such a heart for it. I'm excited to learn from her experiences.

I do have some fears about fund raising but someone on my team said "if it's God's will then it's God's will". I FIRMLY believe with all my heart that God has called me to Kenya this summer, and so I know God will provide the means necessary to allow me to go. In the meantime, I'm working my tail off to get the word out, and pray for my current and potential donors and be receptive to God's calling.

I need to raise $3,300 by June for the trip. If you would like to partner with me, click here Kenya 2014. I would be honored if you would pray over me and my whole team going. Pray for Kenya and the people we'll be hanging out with while we're there. Pray for me to keep my eyes and heart open during this whole experience.

I am overwhelmed by the support I've received from people. I am humbled and I am overwhelmed. I am so grateful to God for putting each and every one of you in my life. Thank you for being part of my trip.

New updates and posts coming soon! Stick around!
